Banalities
Music & lyrics Frances Livings. Music Greg Porée © 2006
Banalities –
getting in the way
of families –
living the cliché
Anthologies –
but not much to say
not more than banalities
oh, living the cliché!
Honey-tongued platitudes
malicious little attitudes
unforgotten altitudes
spitefulness, no gratitude
Banalities –
getting in the way
of families –
living the cliché
Anthologies –
but not much to say
not more than banalities
oh, living the cliché
Life is just a synonym
for what it should really be
mashed like a pot of potatoes
stringy like a runner bean
Constantly creating
slapstick misery
running out of toilet paper
a first degree catastrophy
Banalities –
getting in the way
of families –
living the cliché
Anthologies –
but not much to say…
Take a pinch of spitefulness
a small drop of delightfulness
shake it up and stir it well
family’s living hell –
Banalities –
getting in the way
of families –
living the cliché
Anthologies –
but not much to say…
…
Banalities.
In families.
Living the cliché!
Background info:
The guitarist and composer Greg Porée and I crafted this fun song Banalities as a trailer for a TV sitcom about a dysfunctional family. The producer wanted something that sounded like a Jeff Beck tune. Sadly the show wasn’t picked up. So the song only exists as a demo but has not been released yet. All of my songs however, are available for licensing and publishing.
