If in Hamburg… don’t miss this exhibition of the Berliner painter Werner Scholz one of the so-called forgotten artists of the 1930s, en par with George Grosz and Otto Dix. It will be closing on Sunday June 9, 2024. Contact me for an exclusive tour of these unusual paintings from 1927-37 - before Scholz was defamed by the Nazis and left Germany in 1939.

Shame, that's it's just been left to rot – a gre

Shame, that's it's just been left to rot – a greenhouse from the 1950s, built on the foundation of an even older one from the 1840s, that housed a collection of orchids and other tropical plants (which were exclusive and expensive rarities in the early 19th century). It's not only one of my favourite parks in Hamburg but it of course inspired me to take some pictures because it also made me think of one of my most popular French recordings, "Jardin d'hiver"!

T'was a cold February day. I'm sitting at my desk and watching the sun (only faintly discernable on the right) trying to push through the glum and gloomy fog. The next thing I know, I'm at an art exhibition looking at that very same motif. Only – the sun has actually managed to push its way through the haze in thick paint with circling brushstrokes – like a symbol used in Japanese calligraphy and Zen meditation. It represents the state of mind at the moment of creation and symbolizes absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and the void.

🇺🇸 🎶 I felt very honoured to perform a jazz set with four fabulous musicians celebrating Germany’s reunification of East and West — Tag der Deutschen Einheit 🇩🇪 With our music we represented the American Consulate and the American Woman’s Club of Hamburg ❤️ 🤍 💙 on the international stage, Bühne der Kulturen! This was our last song, Coyote Moon, also my last single — the link to the recording is in my bio.
A huge thanks to everyone who came out in the pouring rain 🌧️ ☔️ and yes, it was cold 🥶 but the music warmed my heart…
