T'was a cold February day. I'm sitting at my desk

T'was a cold February day. I'm sitting at my desk and watching the sun (only faintly discernable on the right) trying to push through the glum and gloomy fog. The next thing I know, I'm at an art exhibition looking at that very same motif. Only – the sun has actually managed to push its way through the haze in thick paint with circling brushstrokes – like a symbol used in Japanese calligraphy and Zen meditation. It represents the state of mind at the moment of creation and symbolizes absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and the void.

🇺🇸 🎶 I felt very honoured to perform a jazz set with four fabulous musicians celebrating Germany’s reunification of East and West — Tag der Deutschen Einheit 🇩🇪 With our music we represented the American Consulate and the American Woman’s Club of Hamburg ❤️ 🤍 💙 on the international stage, Bühne der Kulturen! This was our last song, Coyote Moon, also my last single — the link to the recording is in my bio.
A huge thanks to everyone who came out in the pouring rain 🌧️ ☔️ and yes, it was cold 🥶 but the music warmed my heart…

There’s no shame in wanting and needing to heal from an unloving or absent parent. Society may have deemed it taboo, but that doesn't make our thoughts, feelings, or experiences any less valid. It is hard enough to recognize and accept the truth of how we were treated; we don’t need anyone else judging us for being honest with ourselves. Not only must you believe your own truths and show yourself the same compassion you would a friend going through something similar.
